Miami’s Natural Side

When we think of the city of Miami, we often think of sky rise buildings, condos, shopping, and lots of traffic. Well, have you heard about Miami’s natural side? One example of nature in that city on the beach is the Vizcaya Museum and Garden, which is surrounded by lush and formally set gardens. It is one of the most magnificent museums in the USA. Sunken barges sit along the museum’s ocean front. Natural materials are used throughout and, once again, there are incredible gardens galore.

A great place to get lost in the wonderful world of botanicals is the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.This weekend March 11-13, 2011 is the Fairchild’s 9th Annual International Orchid Festival. Walking tours, workshops, and over 10,000 beautiful orchid plants will be on display. There will be over fifty orchid vendors to deliver the fascinating flowers for all to enjoy.

The sun-soaked city has many bike and walking trails. Rent a bike, don your rollerblades, or jog along the shopping district, beaches, and take in the amazing various, historical architecture that makes Miami such an attraction. You’ll find all kinds of transportation modes other than vehicles as people head outside to enjoy the great outdoors in such perfect weather and scenery.

That baby blue water offers many great sports activities such as snorkeling, surfing, diving, kayaking and much more. There are plenty of places to rent equipment and also to offer you lessons. Eco adventures such as camping, wildlife encounters, canoeing and much more can be enjoyed. And don’t forget that you aren’t too far from The Everglades. Miami offers something natural for everyone.

Miami even celebrates nature as on April 22, Earth Day is honored annually. This special event is to honor our Planet Earth and to encourage the preservation of its natural resources. Many city events are held especially for this celebration. As you plan your getaway, think of Miami’s natural side and get in on some of this nature-celebrating festivities.
