How to use social media to market your business

The Internet has introduced social media which once started as a way for friends and classmates to connect but now businesses by the thousands are using social media also. Social media sites allow for cheap and/or very affordable marketing. They also give businesses a chance to keeep clients/customers up to date on the latest products and services. Target audiences can stay in touch with each other as well as companies. Businesses can offer coupons, sales, and unique online products and services in addition to what they have in stores.

Have a blog that is connected to your website. Frequent content that contains key words and key phrases and also keep online visitors informed and entertained is crucial. Without blogging, without the content and frequent news, you’re missing avery important part of free and/or affordable marketing. Use Word Press or Blogger as they are huge with lots of traffic and create automatic RSS feeds. If you’re not sure how to do this or don’t have the time, be sure to invest in an online marketer or blogger. It will be worth the small investment.

Use the most popular social media sites. These include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. As you may already know, the more popular the network is, the more exposure you get. Although each social networking site has their unique way of doing things, be sure to keep your profile, messages, posts, comments, branding, and all that you do as consistent as possible on all the sites. Remain professional yet personable. Show your professionalism always and let a bit of your personality shine through. And never post something that you wouldn’t want your boss, mother, coworker, or teacher to see.

Learn how to use each social network site correctly. Facebook has more of a personal feel and environment to it and that can be used to your business’s advantage. You can upload photos and videos which show more details of who you are, what you do, and what you have to offer. LinkedIn has a very business environment although they have added more Facebook-like features. This is definitely to your company’s advantage as well. You don’t have to deal with as much riff raff as Facebook as most LinkedIn members are on there strictly for professional networking.

YouTube is hot as videos are now where everyone and everything is going. You may not be comfortable in front of the camera or camcorder but learn to adjust and/or have others be your actors and models. You may not even need people in your videos, just demos of your products and services. Videos are hot on the Internet so use this to promote your business.

Twitter may seem silly or not useful to you until you know how to properly use it. With such a limited about of characters per tweet (or post), you’re almost forced to get straight to the point. That can be amazing! Direct and to the point with succint information that is useful to your target audience.
