Running your business is a creative and flexible of becoming your own boss. It is as much about creating a good life, as it is about making a living. It takes courage, determination and foresight to decide to start your own business. The hardest part is going from a steady job and paycheck to uncertainty about the future of your new business.

Is there a way to determine whether you can be a successful entrepreneur, or you are better off to work for somebody else?

There really is no guaranteed formula for making your business a success. When asked, many other successful entrepreneurs shared ten helpful tips on being successful. Here are just a few of them:

Think successful. You need to dream big. You also need to have the vision of what you want. You need to see the success in your mind, so clear that you can almost feel it. See this image every chance you get.

Have passion for your work. You decide to start a business so you can change part of your life. To make this change, you need to develop a passion for what you want so you can live life to the fullest. Success comes easily if you love what you do.

Work hard. Every successful entrepreneur works hard. No one gains success by sitting and just staring at their computer every single day. Ask any successful businessperson and they will tell you they started out working more than 60 hours per week. Working hard is easy if you have a vision and are passionate about what you do.

Network, Network, Network.  You are judged by the company you keep. Every business needs help especially small businesses. It’s crucial to build relationships with people who can help you, and whom you can help you in return. You need to have good networking skills and always be aware of opportunities to build your contacts.

Learn everything you can. You don’t need to have an MBA to succeed in your own business. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of entrepreneurs who didn’t even finish high school. Many self-made millionaires are of average intelligence. But these people gained their financial goals in business because they were open to learning everything they could. In order for you to succeed, you need to ask questions and stay interested in learning all you can.

Stay disciplined. Do what you must do, when you must do it, even if you don’t want to do it. Discipline is the key to your success. The willingness to keep at it every day will pay off with almost guaranteed success. By doing what others don’t like to do, your business will grow and you will see results.
