Summertime in Winter Park

With many outdoor activities to choose from, Winter Park, Colorado could be the place you spend an entire summer enjoying. You can enjoy all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer all summer long and still not experience everything.

Winter Park has 600 miles of trails that cross from Winter Park to Fraser Valley. You can hike or mountain bike, no matter what your skill level. There is something for everyone. Winter Park is known as “Mountain Bike Capital USA”. It is the host of of several bike races all summer and anyone can participate. There are 50 miles of trails that can be accessed via chair lifts, which are used for skiing in the winter. The trails are very scenic with the mountains and the river on either side. You will, however, have to purchase a lift pass, but it’s free of charge if you decide to ride your bike up the hill. You can have a picnic at Sunspot where you can view 360 degrees of beautiful mountains and forests. You can also enjoy an 18 hole golf course on the top of the mountain.

The Alpine Slide in Winter Park is the longest slide in the state of Colorado. It’s a 3000 foot long slide with a 600 foot drop that winds through the mountains. At the bottom of the slide, you will find a miniature golf course, a climbing wall, Rock N’ Roll Gyro, The Human Maze, Leaps & Bounds Bungee, and much, much more.

Do you enjoy fishing? With 1,000 miles of streams and walks around the 1,000 acres of mountain lakes there is plenty to take in. There are 11,000 acres of reservoirs, as well. Most of the rivers are full of rainbow, cut throat, brown & brook trout. Mackinaw and kokanee salmon swim in the largest lakes. With so much water surrounding you in Winter Park, you will have no trouble finding places to go rafting, canoeing an kayaking.

Music is even better on the Continental Divide. There are free concerts almost everywhere in Winter Park during the summer. Music and food festivals take place all summer long, but these do cost around $40 to enjoy. With the Jazz Festival and the Food, Wine & Beer Festival, you can plan the events you want to attend before you arrive in Winter Park.
