Following is just a list of a few celebrities you may be familiar with who donate their time and money to worthwhile charities and the charities they are involved with. It gives Americans a good feeling to know that their favourite celebrities are doing good things in the world and encourages more people to volunteer their time and donate a little themselves.

The IS Foundation works to empower and educate to positively impact the planet and all of its creatures. The foundation distributes funds and resources to global conservation, green energy development/deployment and education; it creates awareness that global deforestation can be seen as a risk to humanity; it creates awareness by supporting the most powerful, yet disregarded, disrespected and overlooked population on the planet, our youth; it assists in working to end animal cruelty and promoting programs such as: “species specific sterilization drugs” and transferring and re-training of abandoned animals into assistive and therapy guides. The IS Foundation also supports, creates and funds “no-kill shelters”.
Michael Dean Shelton – http://www.facebook.com/michaeldeanshelton
Michael created Snapshots of Hope, a project in which his celebrity friends and acquaintances such as: Snoop Dogg, Fran Drescher, Ringo Starr, and Julie Newmar, used cameras donated by CVS Pharmacy, to capture their versions of hope. The images were then auctioned off to benefit the Aids Research Alliance. He is an avid AIDS/HIV activist, and, in October 2009, he created a team for AIDS Project Los Angeles to raise awareness and money for those living with HIV and AIDS. Michael also works with “Operation Smile”, which helps provide free corrective surgeries and new smiles for children around the world. Michael states that “as both a philanthropist and activist, I am always proud to support the work of Operation Smile. In as little as 45 minutes, and for as little as $240, Operation Smile can give a child new hope and a new chance in life”.
Donating your time, and some money, can give you a real sense of pride and accomplishment. It helps others who are in need and it is appreciated on so many levels.
